In honor of Black History Month, ACS welcomes Kevin Cole as our speaker.
Kevin is a renowned mixed media artist who intertwines painting and sculpture to create work that is both visually and emotionally powerful. He is the recipient of 44 teaching awards, 51 awards in art, 21 Grants, 16 Fellowships, has been in over 450 exhibitions nationwide and is included in over 1600 collections. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear about Kevin’s journey and see examples of his work. His book “Kevin Cole, Straight from the Soul” will be available at the meeting.

Patrick Dennis, a painter for over 30 years, is the co-founder and President of the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces, LLC formed to establish and manage outdoor public art events featuring all disciplines of art and craft.

1. Patrick's experience balancing being a painter, running a gallery, writing for publications and managing art festivals as Pres. of AFFPS.
2. Promoting artists using Press Releases, scholarships, social media and documentaries. (I can bring a video of artist Betsy Halford to show if you have the AV equipment. The video is about 4 minutes in length.
3. How to select and become engaged in various arts groups (i.e., Zapplication, Sunshine Artist, Where the Shows Are, etc.) to support your career path as an artist.

Lecture: "An Evening with Larry Walker", Thursday, February 21st, 7:00pm - 8:30pm in the Classic Room.
Acclaimed artist Larry Walker will speak about his art and artistic journey, also touching on collage, the influence of Romare Bearden and Benny Andrews. Myrna Anderson-Fuller, Director of Hammond House, will participate in this evening lecture. There will be a brief Q&A after the lecture. - March 1 - April 1, 2013 -

Artist Lecture Luncheon: Saturday, March 2, 2013. John Morse, a mentor to the Atlanta Collage Society, will launch the exhibit with an artist talk at a luncheon in the hotel on March 2, 2013.
